Owner Tyler Huntington hopes to open Maybelle (a name inspired by a nickname he uses for his oldest daughter May) by Dec. 1 in the former L’Uva wine bar and restaurant. Huntington’s Durham location of Tyler’s Taproom is also located in American Tobacco and across from this new eatery.”

DURHAM, NC – October 13, 2016 – The team at American Tobacco Campus, a national model for urban redevelopment, has scoured the Triangle and beyond for interesting concepts to highlight at the award-winning mixed-use project. The results are unique, locally focused options for the 4,000 workers at the campus each day and more than 1 million visitors each year. The new restaurant/retail options are:
“I am excited to be joining such a supportive and thriving area in downtown Durham and also returning to the start of my career in the beauty industry . We are overwhelmed by the support of the campus and our loyal clients with this new adventure” – Terry Richardson, owner
“My wife and I are pleased to bring our mom and pop sandwich shop to the Bull City. We are sure that you will be curious to know ‘what is a Wedgie?’. Well, this crispy and hot sandwich has been served to the folks in the Sandhills of NC for 18 years and is long overdue to be brought to you. We look forward to serving you!” – Joe Gay, owner
“Maybelle’s is the culmination of all of the comfort foods I loved as a kid growing up in the South like country ham biscuits, bbq, buttermilk pie, chocolate chess and lemon chess pies. I decided would stick them all under one roof.” – Tyler Huntington, owner
“These three new spots enhance our campus not only as a vibrant place to live and work, but a destination for folks from around the Triangle,” says Michael Goodmon, vice president of real estate, Capitol Broadcasting Company. “The goal of the American Tobacco Campus has always been to create one of the most exciting mixed use neighborhoods in the country, situated in one of America’s most dynamic downtowns, in the heart of an exceptional region. Now, from breakfast through dinner, from work meetings to Broadway shows, we offer unique options.”
