The International League has named Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling as 2015 Executive of the Year. Under his leadership, the Bulls set back-to-back single-season paid attendance records in 2014 and 2015, ending this past campaign with an all-time high of 554,788 cumulative fans. This is the second International League Executive of the Year award for Birling, who took home the honor after his first season as Bulls GM in 2003.”

Monuts lets go of original downtown Durham location
Monuts Donuts is officially letting go of its first location on East Parrish St., but remains open on Ninth Street.
In a heartfelt letter posted to fans on its Facebook page, owners Lindsay and Rob Moriarty detailed the reason why they decided to sell 110 E. Parrish St. location, where they had planned to open an entirely new restaurant.

Giddyup: Durham’s Ponysaurus now open on Hood Street
“London may have double-decker buses,but Ponysaurus is going next level on the concept with a double-decker patio at its new Durham location at 219 Hood St. You can try it out now, too: Ponysaurus opened last night. The bar will now open every afternoon at 4 p.m., except Mondays, and plans to expand its weekend hours in coming weeks.:

Durham’s Principled Technologies acquires WeejeeLearning
“Durham-based Principled Technologies disclosed Friday that it had entered into an agreement to acquire another Durham technology company: WeejeeLearning.
Financials were not immediately available. The move adds nine employees to Principled Technologies’ team, giving it a total headcount of 83.”

Durham, Raleigh among most ‘recession-recovered’ cities
“Durham and Raleigh are among the most “recession-recovered” cities, according to a new report from personal financial website WalletHub.
Among the 150 largest U.S. cities, Durham is No. 19 and Raleigh is No. 22 – the highest-ranked in North Carolina, except for Fayetteville at No. 9.”
